Robotic Cells Streamline Production and Ensure Consistent Quality

Robotic cells help you eliminate repetitive and demanding tasks, ensure consistent quality, reduce errors, and shorten lead times. We design and deliver custom robotic cell solutions for companies in the wood processing industry.

A Robotic Cell Is a Long-Term, Flexible Investment

Does your production include demanding, repetitive, and precision-critical operations, or components that are difficult to handle? Manual operations often increase cycle times and introduce unnecessary variation in process quality.

An efficient and well-functioning robotic cell can be configured, for example, by mounting the robot on an extended linear axis, with standard machines arranged around it. The robot handles part transfer, positioning, and palletizing.

A robotic cell is easy to adapt as production requirements change or products are updated. It is therefore a more flexible investment than a fixed, dedicated production line. As your needs evolve, we can update your production layout or robot programs, and further increase capacity by adding multiple robots on the same linear track

Tell us where bottlenecks occur in your production. We will evaluate whether a robotic cell is a justified investment to replace demanding and complex operations. Robotics can also be used to upgrade and modernize your existing production line.

Robots are a long-term investment, with a typical service life of around 15 years.

What Operations Can Be Automated with Robotics?

A robotic cell is a defined section of a production line in which one or more robots carry out a specific operation within the manufacturing process:

  • Part Handling, Positioning, and Palletizing

The robot grips the parts, positions them accurately for the next process step, and stacks finished parts onto pallets in the required pattern.
  • Machining and Tool Operations

Robots can be used for machining with integrated machining spindles, and can also be equipped with a wide range of production tools as end effectors. Tools can be changed automatically using a tool changer. A broad selection of standard accessories is available for robotic systems. If suitable tools are not available off the shelf, we design and manufacture them in-house.
  • Gripping a Wide Range of Parts

The robot can grip parts of varying sizes, including those that are difficult to handle. Depending on the application, the gripper can be mechanical, vacuum-based, or a combination of both.
  • Serving Multiple Workstations on a Linear Track

The robot can be mounted on a linear track, allowing it to move between multiple workstations. Multiple robots can operate on the same track, and the robotic cell can also include machine tools, conveyors, and assembly presses.
  • Part Transfer Using an Autonomous Mobile Robot

An autonomous mobile robot can pick up parts from the robotic cell and transport them to the next process step or to storage.

We Design and Deliver Complete Turnkey Solutions

Investing in a robotic cell is a significant decision and requires thorough upfront analysis. We begin our collaboration with an initial assessment and pre-engineering phase, including an on-site visit to your production facilities. Based on this, we will advise whether a robotic cell is the right solution to address your production challenges, and we will also be transparent if a different solution would be more appropriate for your needs.

We use advanced simulation software to model the robotic cell and its auxliary equipment before detailed engineering begins. Simulation allows us to verify reach, layout feasibility, and achievable cycle times.

A Robotic Cell Delivery Includes

  • Cell layout design and optional simulation
  • Gripper or end-of-arm tooling design and manufacturing
  • Safety fencing and light curtains
  • Installation and commissioning
  • Robot operator training (typically 2–3 working days)

We can also supply machine tools, conveyors, and complex assembly presses as part of the complete system, if required.

High-Quality, Long-Lasting KUKA Robotic Cells

We have been a KUKA System Partner since 2014. While we have extensive experience with other robot brands, including Yaskawa Motoman, we primarily select solutions from KUKA’s broad and high-quality robot portfolio. KUKA offers robots with payload capacities ranging from approximately 3 to 1,300 kg, covering applications from light part handling to heavy industrial processes. You can find the latest range of robot models, accessories, and advanced application software on KUKA’s website.

We do more than just install robots. If standard grippers or tools are not sufficient, we design and manufacture the required custom end-of-arm tooling in-house.
